How Jobaphiles Works

Can we help you with something?

Maybe you need a tech whiz to help you use a computer or,
A high-achieving student to tutor your kids or,
Someone strong to help you move or,
A responsible person to baby-sit or,
Someone detail-oriented to assist with research.

College students want to do your job. Follow these simple steps and soon your job will be completed at an affordable price, with quality ensured.

  1. Post A Job
Click on "Post a Job" and enter in the details about your job.
  1. Students Will Bid the Price Down
Students will browse the job postings and submit job offers for how much they would charge for completion of the job. This system encourages students to bid the price down.

    Quality Ensured
You will have access to the job ratings of each student so you can choose a worker based on price and previous job performance.
  1. Choose a Worker Immediately or Wait Until Bidding is Complete
You can choose, at anytime, to select a student worker from the bids submitted. Or, you can wait until the bidding is over (1, 2, or 3 weeks) and then select a worker. Remember, you are under no obligation to choose a bid. If you don't like any of the bids, you can opt not to choose any of them.
  1. Contact the Student
After you choose a student to do the job, you will be given his or her contact information. You then call them to arrange the time and place for completion of the job.
  1. Pay the Student
On the job posting page, you will list which forms of payment you will offer. Once the job is completed, the student can choose the form of payment from that list.
  1. Rate the Student (Optional)
Once you confirm that the job is complete, you will be given the opportunity to rate the student's job performance. If you are particularly impressed with the job performance, you can choose to serve as a reference for the student.
  1. Re-Hire the Student (Optional)
If you want to hire the student again, use Jobaphiles online re-hiring form to give yourself an opportunity to rate the student again after the job is complete.

Looking for a Job?

Let's face it: You could use some extra cash. The problem is that you don't have time for a full-time job. And the part-time campus jobs aren't thrilling. How would you like to find work that is short-term, interesting, and pays well. Welcome to Jobaphiles.

  1. Browse Jobs
There are several ways to browse through the job listings.
    1. Click on "Get a Job" and you will see all job listings, beginning with jobs whose bidding is ending soonest. You can then filter based on recent posts, price, and location.
    2. Click on any of the job categories on the left side of the page and you will browse jobs in those areas.
    3. Enter a keyword in the search box and all related jobs will appear.
  1. Read the Details
When you find a job posting that interests you, read the detailed description. Make sure you have the capacity to complete the job. If you have any questions, you can post a question for the job poster. Take note of the forms of payment that the employer offers.
  1. Check the Ratings
If the employer has used Jobaphiles before, there will be ratings and comments about him or her.
  1. Place a Bid
To place a bid, enter the dollar value for which you would be willing to complete the job into the bid box. This represents your offer for the amount of money you require to finish the job. You don't have to have the lowest bid to win; employers make their decision based on price and ratings. However, a lower bid is more likely to win.
Note that the employer can choose a bid at any time, so only place a bid that you would be satisfied to work for.
  1. You will be contacted
Once the job poster chooses your bid, he or she will receive your contact information. They will contact you by phone or email and arrange the time and location of the job. You will also be given the job poster's contact information.
  1. Get Paid
When the job is completed, the employer will pay you the amount of your bid. You can choose from the payment options listing in the job details page.
  1. Rate the Employer (Optional)
Once the employer indicates the job is compete, you will be given the opportunity to rate him or her. Leaving feedback about the employer will help ensure that Jobaphiles remains a safe and honest community.
  1. Get Re-Hired (Optional)
If you and the employer agree on additional jobs, the employer can use Jobaphiles online re-hiring form to hire you again. Completing the process online will give each of you the opportunity to leave additional feedback, thus promoting responsible behavior by both parties.

What exactly is Jobaphiles?
Jobaphiles facilitates the employment of local college students with local (or remote) jobs.

How does it work?
Employers post jobs and students make competitive job offers for them. Employers then choose amongst the offers for the candidate that is most qualified relative to their job offer (read: price you're willing to work for).

Is this site free?
Jobaphiles is currently free for students, recent grads, and other job-seekers to apply for jobs.

Who can apply for jobs on this site?
ANYONE, but this site has been promoted among current and recently graduated college students.

If I'm not a college student or alum can I still use this site?
Yes. You can be philanthropic and help poor, starving college students and jobless graduates make ends meet by posting jobs. Feel free to bid on jobs or offer your services as well.

Why wasn't this brilliant website developed earlier?
As they say, better late than never. Plus, our moms would have have killed us if we dropped out of school to start this site earlier.

Why is this site in beta?
Although this site is functional and working, it is still undergoing heavy development--to make this site ever more functional, useful, and easy for you to use.

I found a bug. What should I do?
Well you could try using a virtual bug swatter but that might get kind of messy. Better leave it to the pros to fix, please let us know about it at support@jobaphiles.com
