students a way to pay for the high-costs of their education.
How do I use Jobaphiles?
Visit our "how it works" page for a short video on how to use the site.
History
Jobaphiles was founded in March 2008 by four college students, Thai Nguyen,
Ben Herila, and Scott Tamura. Frustrated by the increasing expenses of
attending college, they sought a way in which strapped-for-cash students could
put their talents and free time to good use. From this need, they banded
together to form Jobaphiles.
The Founders
Thai Nguyen, CEO
Thai is a graduate from Williams College having majored in Computer Science and
Asian Studies. As the CEO of Jobaphiles, he manages the site's business-related
affairs everything from marketing and hiring to making sure Jobaphiles has the
resources it needs to accomplish its goals. When he's not busy introducing
Jobaphiles to new colleges and cities, you can usually find him dancing to Daft
Punk tracks while practicing spoken Mandarin.
Benjamin Herila, CTO
Ben is a sophomore at Brown University studying Computer Science and Economics.
He designed and developed the Jobaphiles web technologies, and currently
maintains, manages, and supports all Jobaphiles online operations. When not at
the computer, Ben enjoys skiing and squash, playing the piano, and reading
plot-driven fiction.
Scott Tamura, COO
Scott is a senior at Williams College studying Chemistry and Japanese. He
entertained Thai Nguyen during many late-night dinner conversations and
sleepless nights over his crazy entrepreneurial ideas. After a failed stint at
trying to find the cure for cancer by the age of 21 he has decided to move on to
bigger and greater things. Since then he has found himself spearheading the
marketing campaign at the very company that he listened to Thai promote
half-a-year earlier. On the side, he is a coxswain for the Williams Crew Team
and during his spare time runs marathons, fixes computers, juggles, and talks
with his best friend JW.
Harsha Konduri, CIO
Harsha is a graduate of the prestigious Birla Institute of Technology and
Science(BITS) in India having majored in Information Systems. As the Chief
Information Officer of Jobaphiles, he manages the Jobaphiles development and
support team. An excellent orator, he dreams of one day giving the opening
speech at Mac World (inspired by his favorite movie of all time "Pirates of
Silicon Valley"). When he's not on the cricket field, you can find him reading
The Economist or watching the latest Telugu or Bollywood flick.
Joe Shippee, CFO
Joe Shippee shares responsibilities managing corporate strategy, financial
analysis, and selected media communications. The past two years, he was an
investment banker at J.P. Morgan focusing on securities and exchanges within the
financial institutions group. In addition to his duties at Jobaphiles, Mr.
Shippee is also studying for a master's degree in classical piano at NYU. He
holds a bachelor's degree in philosophy from Williams College, where he
graduated cum laude in 2007.
Adam Huang, Marketing Analyst
Adam is a sophomore at the University of Massachusetts Boston studying Computer
Science and IT. He overseas the company's marketing operations as well as user
experience on the site. He loves spending his afternoons playing basketball with
his friends and entertaining them with his jokes.
Michael Nguyen, Business Strategist and Operations Supervisor
As someone who has had his fair share of part time jobs and gigs, Mike
understands the challenges of finding a job. With the economy at a standstill,
he is inspired to work for a company that is fighting the recession. As one of
the business strategists and operations supervisors at Jobaphiles, he will do
all it takes to ensure that the company continues to run smoothly. When able to
pry Mike away from the computer, you will find him at the gym or playing
competitive ping pong with his friends.
Bogdan Semida, Marketing Representative at Boston University
Bogdan Semida is a rising junior studying business and management at Boston
University. He's always loved doing promotional work and jumped at the
opportunity to join the Jobaphiles team in 2008. He's a big fan of bargains and
great deals and runs a blog on living a frugal and economic lifestyle.
Pradeep Kumar, Design & Development Ninja
After freelancing remotely for around six months, Pradeep was invited to work
on-site for the summer at the Jobaphiles Headquarters. His work involves
creating new features and making them look beautiful, yet simple for our beloved
users. However, unknown to Pradeep, he is slowly going insane after many long
hours of passionate work, which is evident from the fact that he is writing in
third-person while editing this page. After completing his current mission of
making Jobaphiles.com sexy, he hopes to get into the Game Development industry
some day. Pradeep Kumar is currently majoring in Information Systems at BITS
Pilani - Goa Campus.
Will Graham, Developer/Guru
As someone who has been developing for many years, Will thought he had seen it
all. Then, one fateful morning at 2:00am, while Googling for an answer as to WHY
THIS CODE IS GIVING ME AN InvalidOperationException (!!1one), he came across a
posting for a Jobaphiles.com Developer. After sending along his fledging resume
(which happened to be flagged as spam by Gmail), Will joined the team at their
headquarters and has been working with Ben and Pradeep to develop the site.
